Richard Bernabe, a landscape, nature, wildlife, and travel photographer gave up corporate America some years ago to pursue a full-time career in photography. He gave up job security, a comfortable salary and career stability in order to chase his dream of being a professional photographer. He, like many photographers before him, built a truly successful career from his passion and became one of the most admired and sought after image makers in the world.
His photographs have appeared everywhere from National Geographic, The New York Times, Outdoor Photographer, Popular Photography, and many others, and has become a well-known and respected workshop teacher and lecturer.
His creative eye, composition, and patience to find the perfect moments to press the shutter have resulted in photographs that tell a story and take the viewer to a different place. Richard has been able to capture moments that reflect the beauty of the world he sees unfolding in front of him, whether it’s Africa or the Cypress swamps of South Carolina.
He has some great ebooks available for purchase on his site, but he most recently released a free ebook in the last few days titled the Spirit of Africa. Spirit of Africa is a collection of photographs from the largest continent in the world with images taken from the top of the continent in Morocco to the southernmost reaches of South Africa.
Each photograph in the book has a caption that tells you a story. He also provides camera settings and equipment used for each photograph, which any wildlife photographer or enthusiast will find useful.
In the Spirit of Africa, Richard takes us on a visual journey through the diverse flora and fauna of the African landscape, showcasing everything from astrophotography, lions mating, beautiful compositions of the orange and red dunes in the Namib Desert, to a hippo fight and a brood of wildebeests herding together.
Bernabe’s book does captures the Spirit of Africa. It gives the viewer a sense that the photographic opportunities are boundless and ample in Africa, and will make any photographer want to get on the road, catch a plane, and see one of the most beautiful places in the world. The otherworldly landscapes and the candid moments of wildlife in their natural habitat is a beautiful compendium of beautiful photographs worth downloading and seeing for yourself.
