“Of all the means of expression, photography is the only one that fixes a precise moment in time.” — Henri Cartier-Bresson
Precise Moment isn’t an online photography magazine that seeks to proselytize or worship the works of Henri Cartier-Bresson, nor take a hubristic approach to believe we are the best courier to carry the torch of photography.
I launched this magazine because of my ever-growing curiosity about photography as an art form. I realized quickly that photography, like any creative pursuit, is a worthy endeavor. When I was younger I never had a high regard for photography, mostly because it seemed like it was something anybody could do.
My talent was writing, and when I became an assistant editor of a photography magazine I found out quickly that I didn’t know anything about photography. An art director approached me on my first day and asked me to take a product shot of a bracelet. I’m assuming she thought this should be a simple task for a photography editor. Trying to save face, I accepted the task and fiddled with some lights and a SLR in hopes of getting it right.
What turned out was an overexposed image with too much fill. Luckily a graphic designer saw me bungling around and came to help me. He knew his way around the camera and showed me the patience, discipline, and factors that one must consider when making a photo. He gave that art director exactly what she wanted, and I felt like a fool for thinking it would be easy. From that day forward I never underestimated photography, or any art form as an easy thing, and ended up falling in love with it.
Some people have the ability to write, or paint, or to make something by hand, and this is one of the most important things that makes us human. A world without anything beautiful, a world without anything that stirs emotions, without films, paintings, plays, novels, and poems is a world without enrichment of the mind and soul. Without art we have nothing to elevate our imaginations, nothing to grow our minds to become more intelligent, and no legacy to leave behind for future generations. What would we be without cave drawings, or Renaissance art?
Precise Moment is an online photography magazine wants to celebrate photography in all of its forms, and to take a closer look at photographers making art. Precise Moment is the moment of capture defined because we want to explore the significance of photography from the moment of capture to the final edit, and to voice the perspective of different photographers.

Very intriguing objective…
I’d like to participate… thanks for inviting “everyone” to share their stories and not just invite us to come and witness the testimonials of others to see how closely they resemble our own experiences. . . (grin)
Is the activation of this site really brand new… (2 FEB 15) ?
I guess I stumbled by here just in time. . .
How often do you publish? I’ve just read another article about where you quote Scott Kelby…
OR
perhaps you publish more than a single article at a time…?
It looks like it’ll be fun. . .
Until that time. . . Earl J.
Hi Earl, I’m glad you think that Precise Moment will be fun and intriguing. That’s what I was going for 🙂 Yes, I launched in on February, but I was trying to launch it sooner, but being a one-man operation has been difficult in doing so. I try to at least publish 3 in-depth articles per week (5 if possible). I hope as I move further into the future, I can publish much more. I’d love to hear your story, email me at adam@precise-moment.com
