Exploring Photography Through Others’ Eyes, Part IV
Precise-Moment.com’s fourth edition of Exposure is dedicated to landscape photographer Mark Seawell, a retired Air Force veteran and photographer that creates some of the best landscape photography from Europe all the way to the American Southwest.
Seawell’s love of photography grew during his long nature walks with his wife while stationed in Germany. One day Mark decided to take a camera along with him, and soon he came to find photography was his true passion. Seawell spent 20 years stationed in Europe with the Air Force, but his passion for photography grew into a small business called MSPHOTOWORLD (now Mark Seawell Photography), which sells landscape photographs to both military and civilians, and in July 2014 moved the business to Ogden, Utah.
I held a contest on Google+ asking more than 500,000 landscapes photographers in the Landscape Photography Community to answer a simple question: Why do you love landscape photography? Mark’s eloquent answer is what caught my attention, as well as the other judges:
“Landscape photography for me is a reflection of my inner soul. It allows me to connect to something infinitely greater, to become a part of the mosaic the we call our world. It is truly a tunnel for me to journey through and maybe, if I’m lucky, to express that though we witness brutality, see displays of ignorance and are constantly bombarded with negativity, we live in a world of beauty with endless possibilities if we would only open our eyes and see it. We all need a little earth in our lives,” Seawell Says.
Mark’s answer epitomizes the soul and feelings of an outdoor photographer who sees more than the small picture, but instead sees beauty of the natural earth.
