In a world where digital trumps analog, there are still those of us out there that still love photographic prints. I remember being a kid in the 80s and my dad using a Polaroid instant camera. I always thought it was so cool because we didn’t have to take a roll of film to be developed. It is a really similar feeling you get with the instant gratification of digital photography, but instead you get a real, tangible photograph.
It’s always nice to see camera companies still releasing instant cameras these days. Fujifilm just announced one today: the Instax Mini 70. The new fujifilm instant camera promises better selfies, and is an improvement from their previous model because the ‘Selfie’ mode corrects for brightness, and has a small mirror on the front of the camera for framing your photo perfectly. It also features Auto Exposure Control mode that allows you to capture your main subject and background in natural brightness.
The Instax Mini 70 also has a flash that automatically calculates surrounding brightness and adjusts shutter speed to give you a better exposure than previous Instax model cameras.
The Instax Mini 70 prints out a credit card-sized photograph (86mm x 54mm) and comes in three different colors: Canary Yellow, Island Blue, and Moon White. It will be available in November and will retail for $139.95; or with a 10 pack of Instax Mini film for $169.99.
Although I prefer the muddy over/under exposed images instant film cameras used to make, it’s great to see that their is still quite a demand for a photographic print.
