Photography Week in Review
Friday is here and a lot has happened in the photography world this week. Whether you’re a news junkie, technophile, love everything photographic, or just want to know what you might have missed, I compiled a list of the biggest photography news for the first week of September 2015.
Here are the most influential photography news stories of the week:
DxO ONE Makes Itself Known
The release of the DxO ONE was big news this week, and for good reason. It’s a camera that attaches to the Lightning port of the iPhone 6. The DxO ONE offers a larger image sensor almost identical to Sony’s Sony RX100 III, donning a 20.2-megapixel 1-inch CMOS image sensor.
The reviews of the DxO ONE are coming back unanimously positive, touting amazing resolution and image quality in low light. To read more on the significance of the DxO ONE read more here.
Digital Holga
If you were once into the distortion that the original film-based Holga created than you might be interested in the upcoming Digital Holga. There is currently a Kickstarter campaign to raise capital to produce this new camera by January 2016, and they have well reached their goal.
A pretty unique camera in the past, but with all the filters and apps from our smartphone cameras, do we really need a Digital Holga?
Photographer Creates Star Wars Wedding Photo
This is pretty awesome, especially if you’re a Star Wars fan. Wedding photographer Tanya Musgrave was asked by one of her couples to create a Star Wars image from one of their wedding pictures. So, being the awesome photographer she is, she put in the elbow grease in Photoshop and created this awesome video showing the intricate and laborious process.
Tamron Goes Prime Full Frame With Two News Lenses
Tamron, a third-party lens manufacturer has released two full-frame prime lenses this week for Canon and Nikon mount Full Frame cameras, but also say a Sony A-mount is coming down the road. The two lenses are the SP 35mm f1.8 VC USD, and SP 45mm f/1.8 VC USD, both with a nice wide open constant aperture, and image stabilization built into the lens.
